Lake Kurobe on Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route

When you take a Kurobe Cable Car from Kurobe-Daira, you will arrive at "Kurobeko", which means Lake Kurobe and is located to the west side of Lake Kurobe.

Lake Kurobe is an artificial lake of Kurobe Dam. Kurobe Dam was built in 1963 at the deep and steep Kurobe Gorge between two mountain ranges, whose altitude is approximately 3,000 meters in height.

From "Kurobe-Ko" station of the Kurobe Cable Car, you can access the boarding point of the pleasure boat, "Garve-Go". "Garve-Go" travels on Lake Kurobe in 30 minutes.

From the boat, you can see Kurobe-Dam and will realize how huge Kurobe-Dam is.

As Lake Kurobe is sandwiched between two mountain ranges, it has an elongated shape in the north and south. From "Garve-Go", you will see Mt. Hakuba to the north, and the North Japan Alps to the south.
