Kurobe-Daira on Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route

Kurobe-Daira is an observatory on the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route, which is located on the east side of Mt. Tateyama. Kurobe-Daira is accessible from Daikanbo by the Tateyama Ropeway.

In the middle of October, Tateyama Ropeway was crowded, but the scenery from the ropeway was also spectacular.

Tateyama Ropeway connects between Daikanbo, whose altitude is 2,316 meters in height, and Kurobe-Daira, whose altitude is 1,828 meters in height. The distance is 1,710 meters. The Ropeway ride connects between these places in seven minutes.

At the Kurobe-Daira Station of the Tateyama Ropeway, observation decks are located. You can enjoy spectacular scenery of Mt. Tateyama. Mt. Onnanji, the highest peak of Mt. Tateyama (Altitude: 3,015 meters) can be seen from Kurobe-Daira. You can see Daikanbo Ropeway Station on the mountainside of Mt. Onnaji. The gondolas of the Tateyama Ropeway look very small compared to huge Mt. Tateyama.

On the other side, you will see Mt. Akazawa (Altitude: 2,678 meters) across Kurobe Gorge.
This scenery was also beautiful.

From Kurobe-Daira, you can access to Lake Kurobe, "Kurobe-Ko", by Kurobe Cable Car. In winter, this area is known as a deep-snow district. In order to avoid avalanches, the Kurobe Cable Car runs through a tunnel.

After a five minute Cable Car ride, you will arrive at Kurobe-Ko Station.

On the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route, you will take variety of transportation systems, like a Cable Car, a Ropeway or a Trolley Bus. At each connecting station, such beautiful scenery is waiting for you.

How to get there
You can access Daikanbo both from Toyama Station through Tateyama and Bijyodaira and from Ohgisawa through the Kurobe Dam.
